Raleigh Photographer – My Favorite Scary Books

If you read my blog or follow me on Instagram you know that I’m an avid reader.  I love reading and frequently post book reviews.  In honor of my favorite month I’ve decided to post my top 5 favorite scary/suspenseful books.

1.  The Taking – by Dean Koontz

I used to read a lot of Dean, but haven’t as much lately.  I love his weird slant on everything and this book is my favorite of his.  I literally couldn’t put this one down until I finished it.  It’s a creepy end of days kind of book and I highly recommend it.

2.  Sphere – by Michael Crichton

I love Michael Crichton and his books.  I love the fact that you can learn so much from his extensive research.  This book I read in high school and I’m a little fuzzy on all of the details these days, but I remember it scaring me while I was reading it.

3.  Revenge Eleven Dark Tales – Yoko Ogawa

If you want to give yourself a good scare read this one at home alone on a dark and stormy night.  I’m not going to give too much away on this one, but it’s really creepy.

4.  Night Film – Marisha Pessl

I love this book.  It’s so good and even though it’s long I think it ends with a great twist.  Again it’s more creepy than scary, but so worth reading.

5.  World War Z – Max Brooks

Spoiler alert this book is nothing like the movie.  In a good way.  This book already took a fear and twisted it into a full blown paranoia.  SO SCARY!!!  For all you zombie lovers? haters?  this is the book for you!

Happy Halloween everyone!!!
