I had the best time photographing this downtown Raleigh senior session. Even in the middle of the winter the downtown Raleigh setting can be a great backdrop for your senior photos.
We met up in the Boylan Heights area of downtown Raleigh to start our senior session. Mariah and her mom were troopers as we had to wait out the rain that had come through right as we were about to begin. Luckily the rain moved out and we were able to get some great shots bouncing around the area. Downtown Raleigh has some great nooks and crannies to shoot in and I love using our colorful murals as a backdrop. We totally lucked out when we stumbled across a purple moving crate. It looked great with Mariah’s dress.
I usually suggest that seniors bring 3 outfits to their session. It gives some variety in the images and also allows them to show off their personality. Mariah selected some great pieces and accessories for our session. The simple addition of a hat can completely change the look of an outfit and gives you something fun to pose with. I loved the pattern of her dress (which is Lu La Roe) and it really played well with the urban downtown backdrop. At the end of the session we incorporated some really fun balloons which were so colorful against the late winter skyline and offered a beautiful pop of color. One of Mariah’s favorite movies is Up and she wanted to use them in some photos. I really loved how these pictures turned out. I always have a great time photographing seniors!
