My Favorite Things – Best Holiday Cocktails

It’s the most wonderful time of year again folks and that means party season is upon us!  I love making specialty cocktails for gatherings, events and parties this time of year and I’ve put together a list – along with recipes – for some of my favorite holiday cocktails.  These have been through rigorous testing at the hands of my friends and family.  I also added a couple of wine reccommendations at the end in case you need a fancy host/hostess gift.  Enjoy!   Cranberry

Raleigh Photographer – Photography Tips – Lenses and Focal Lengths

As a photographer here in Raleigh, the 2 most common questions I get asked are:  “What kind of camera should I buy?”  and “What lens should I get next for my dslr?” Typically the kit lens that comes with your new dslr is an everyday mid wide zoom.  It’s versatile for travel and basic photography, but the one thing that it’s lacking is a low aperture.  What does that mean you ask?  Well all those lovely photos where your subject is in focus, but the background is blurry, seen here: Amazing

Raleigh Child Photographer – Claire is 1!

I have been photographing this little angel since she was a newborn.  She’s totally adorable and always so cooperative for our sessions.  For her 1 year session we did pictures at the NCMA.  I love the art museum because there are so many options for pics and I’m a big fan of a large open field.   Cat Wilborne is an on-location photographer specializing in child and family photography in Raleigh, Cary, Durham and Chapel Hill.

Raleigh Newborn Photographer – Meal Train

I had a newborn session last week (images to come of course) and my client told me about this amazing website called Meal Train.  Have you heard of it?  It’s an organizational site for meal delivery.  Anyone who has had surgery or a baby knows how wonderful it is when friends and family drop off meals to help you through a crazy time.  Well this site takes all those extended folks and helps them organize a time table of when to drop off food.  You can also add your likes/dislikes,

Raleigh Family Photographer – Lunch Ideas

I don’t know about you, but I am constantly looking for lunch ideas.  I always struggle with lunch.  I am a pretty healthy eater so I like a lot of salads and whole foods as opposed to sandwiches and burgers.  I’ve spent some time on Pinterest rounding up some ideas and I wanted to share some of my faves this month.    I’ve also created a whole board on Pinterest dedicated to lunch ideas if you care to follow… This collection from Buzzfeed is great.  Just when I think I can’t possibly love

Raleigh Family Photographer – My Favorite Educational Websites

Since we’re all officially back to school this month I thought I would do a post of my favorite educational sites.  Since my daughter is 3 most of these are geared towards preschoolers, but I think most offer a variety of ideas for all ages. Carrots are Orange  – This is a Montessori  based learning site and I really like it.  It’s organized, easy to navigate and full of great ideas. Picklebums – I use this site quite a bit for craft inspiration.  It’s cute and easy to

Kids and Food – What to Feed Them?

The end of August is approaching and you know what that means…a return to school for hundreds of kids.  For us parents it means we spend the last couple of weeks scrambling to get school supplies and clothing.  For a lot of us it also means a return to packing lunches.  I don’t  know about you, but I dread packing lunches.  It gives me anxiety.  It’s hard to find lunch ideas that are healthy, easy to prepare and cost efficient.   I am by no means an expert lunch packer, but I wanted to share
