Over the past couple of years the momentum behind the EO movement has really picked up. I think people are really looking towards alternative healing methods and you’ve probably been invited to at least one party or event centered around essential oil education. I was talking to a friend of mine recently and she mentioned that she had a starter kit from Young Living but that she wasn’t really using it. She didn’t know which oils were best for what purposes etc. This was also
I am really excited to announce an upcoming mini session date for all the momma’s out there. I had the best time shooting at a certain spot in Raleigh last summer and I decided I would love to have a mini session date at this creek location with just mommas and their babies. So calling all moms, grab your kiddos and bring them to the creek to capture motherhood at its best. I want you to plan on playing and snuggling these babes in the creek and just letting yourself have fun and let go.
If there’s one thing I can’t travel to the pool, beach or lake without (besides sunscreen) it’s a book. I love summer because I really get a chance to catch up on some of the juicy reads out there. This summer I’m planning on slipping these 6 into my beach bag. What are you planning on reading this summer?
Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Confessions of a Domestic Faliure
A Certain Age

I don’t know about you, but I am sooo excited for summer. I love the water and being outside so I’m always pumped this time of year. This year one of my goals is to take more personal photos and really focus on being in the photos as well as capturing all those memories that I feel are passing me by. So to keep me on track I decided to make my own little summer photo challenge! Starting the week of June 21st (the official beginning of summer) I’ll be announcing a weekly photo
There’s just something about summer that inspires photos. The light, the heat, the assortment of fun outdoor activities. It just makes for great photo opps. It can be a bit overwhelming to think about dragging your camera along with you everywhere or to feel pressured to take photos vs. being in the moment. ( I know I struggle with that) So I came up with some suggestions for upping your photography game this summer.
1. Take a cinematic approach

I like to start off the New Year by providing some helpful photo tips for those of you who might have gotten a new camera over the holidays or for folks looking for a reason to get out and use the one they already have. I often hear from clients that they’ve purchased a camera in the hopes of taking great photos of their kids, but don’t really know where to start. I think it’s a common misconception that the camera is responsible for making great pics when it’s really a kind of melting pot of

I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable little one a year ago for her 1st birthday. Yes, 1 year ago! Jeez! I am still playing catch up when it comes to blogging and I wanted to share this cute little bean before she turns 3! She now has a super cute baby sister and I was lucky enough to meet her recently as well. (Post coming soon, promise!) We met on a gorgeous morning at Fred Fletcher Park to take some photos.

I met Leah and her family at their maternity session for the first time in March. They are so cute and easy going. I always have a great time photographing them and couldn’t wait for the arrival of their new baby! We met on a beautiful April morning to photograph their newborn. Here are some of my favorites from the session:
