I laughed my way through this family photo session in Durham, NC back in April. This family was so fun and laughing came easy to everyone.
Mom had contacted me a while back to set up a family photo session with her older kids. Schedules were difficult to nail down so it was a while before we managed to get everyone in one place. I am so glad that she persevered because I thought the session turned out great. As kids get older there are fewer occasions that require updated family photos, but I think it’s so important to keep the tradition alive. Taking pictures came easy for everyone because they all thoroughly enjoyed being around each other. They each offered tips and ideas for photos which is always fun and they were very cooperative. I literally laughed my way through this entire session.
American Tobacco, or American Tobacco campus, is home to businesses, restaurants and more. I love this spot as a location for photos, it has so many great nooks and crannies. It has a very industrial look with lots of exposed brick and architectural features which makes it a great location in the winter months. This past year I did some holiday mini-sessions there and it was decorated for the season and featured an ice rink right in the middle. I love how Durham revitalized this area, making it a destination for folks to come grab a bite to eat and enjoy some nightlife. They feature live music in the summers and right across the street is both the Durham Bulls baseball park and DPAC – the performing arts center. The best part about doing a photography session here is that after it’s over you can grab a bite to eat. If you’re looking for a photography location that’s a bit different I highly recommend this spot.
